Keep Lettuce Fresh in a Vege-Saver!

With Spring Greens in abundance, here are some TIPS to keep yours FRESH and ready to eat from your fridge!

TIP 1 - Avoid cutting Greens with a metal knife. Edges will brown causing the Greens to wilt and rot. Tearing by hand is best.

TIP 2 - Always rinse Greens and Leafy Lettuce with cold water before placing in your Vege-Saver and do not shake or dry. The excess water is what keeps the moisture level just right in your crisper draw.

TIP 3 - Wilted Lettuce can be brought back to life by rinsing with cold water and placing in your Vege-Saver. Several customers have remarked at how this works for Lettuce, Spinach and other Greens. Alsoyou can try dipping wilted Greens in hot water, then rinsing in ice water with a bit of salt added. Place in Vege-Saver in refrigerator and wait one hour.

Did you know? Eating Salad before a meal helps fill you up so you eat less calorie heavy foods! A recent study found that women who had a 3 cup Salad [approximately 100 calories] before they ate dinner, ate 12% less! [Volumetrics Eating Plan, Barbara Rolls, Pd. D., Harper-Collins] But watch those extras like cheese, croutons, and high fat dressing!
