Do you remember running through the wet towels your mom just hung to dry on the outside clothesline? The combination of dampness and the air running through them made for a "cool" sensation on a warm day. That's part of the principle behind the Vege-Saver! Just enough moisture and the terry cloth material acts to keep the temperature "cooler" in your crisper draw and the produce supplied with enough dampness to prevent wilting.

But that same terry cloth will also absorb enough moisture to keep fresh berries and fruits from molding or developing white fuzz. Strawberries and other berries are in season in many places right now. Whether picked fresh or bought in the store or market, rinse clean and place in your Vege-Saver.
[Vege-Savers come in Vegetable and Fruit Patterns to help know what the contents are!]

Check each day for any sign of mold and let Vege-Saver dry out a bit if it seems too wet. Remember, fruits tend to be more sensitive to temperature and moisture content. But with the right balance for your fridge, you should find the berries all eaten before they have a chance to go bad!

DID YOU KNOW?  "Dressing can easily have more calories and fat then the entire rest of your salad," says dietician Bonnie Taub-Dix, R.D. "But some low-fat versions simply don't taste good, and others actually have more calories then their full-fat counterparts."

Read your labels watching for fat, calories, and sugar. Avoid dressings with "partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oil" in the ingredients list--these contain trans-fats. READ the Comsumer Reports information on these fats. READ the HARVARD School of Public Health report.
